Stargirl has moved away from Arizona and has now moved to Pennsylvania. She's moved away from her old school where her schoolmates thought she was weird and now is back in home school again. She has moved away from Leo and Archie the two people she loves most in the whole world. She meets many new people like a boy Perry, a girl Alvinia, and her her best friend who is 6, Dootsie. She starts a winter solstice calendar, and continues it out throughout the book. She misses her friends but she realizes even though she is sad she still can find happiness in other people who she loves.
