The Giver

Title: The Giver
Author: Lois Lowry
Reviewer: Alannah
The Giver is about a boy named Jonas who could not see color and didn't have pain or happiness. His whole community was the same no feelings no color. It was called sameness. When Jonas is older and recieves his job he is named Receiver and he learns that there is more than sameness and that there was a past of feeling color and happiness. Jonas learns this from a man he calls the Giver. When Jonas learns all of this and is beginning to see color he goes off searching for more communities with feeling and color to find out if was the past or if it is still here in present. This book is the first book in the trililogy by Lois Lowry. I think this book is really good and so is the rest of the triliogy and it's a fun adventure fantasy book I would definitely recommend it to others.

Author: Lois Duncan
Reviewer: Maddie
“I Know What You Did Last Summer” is a book about four high school friends who went to a party one summer and started drinking. The four friend’s names were Barry, Julie, Helen and Ray. They weren’t paying attention when Barry was driving and they hit and killed a young boy on his bike. Instead of stopping, they just kept going so they wouldn’t get in trouble. One year later, still horrified about what happened, they all got strange letters or calls saying “I know what you did last summer.” They were all shocked. Then it ended up that someone was trying to hurt or even kill them. One of the friends, Barry, was shot at a football game after getting strange calls from someone saying they had pictures of what happened last summer. Then Helen’s neighbor, Julie’s boyfriend, and the brother of the boy from last summer’s nightmare ended up being the same person and he tried to kill Barry, Helen and Julie. Ray saved Julie from being strangled to death. Helen was forced to jump out the window for her life, and lived. Collie/Bud, who was Helen’s neighbor and Julie’s boyfriend, was arrested.
It was a great story if you like suspenseful and spooky stories.

Santa Paws on Christmas Island

Title: Santa Paws on Christmas Island
By: Kris Edwards
Reviewer: Krista

The book Santa Paws is a very good book. It is about a dog named Santa Paws and his owner Gregory Callahan. I liked this book because it is more about real life than some other books. It starts out with Gregory wanting a snow day (don’t we all). During the snow day they go snow boarding and Santa Paws saves the day. Santa Paws saves the day a lot. Santa Paws got his name by helping people. He mostly helped people during Christmas time and that is why he got the name Santa Paws. Some of the main characters are Santa Paws-the Callahan’s dog, Gregory- the owner of Santa Paws, and Patricia- Gregory’s sister. I liked this book because it shows how helpful dogs can be. This book is a great Christmas time book and I enjoyed reading it.
