Massie, Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen are all very wealthy and are in seventh grade together at Octavian Country Day school. Massie finds out that Claire Lyons, a girl from Florida, has to move into Massie’s guesthouse for a few months until Mr. Lyons finds a house of their own. Massie has already told herself that she isn’t going to like Claire. Massie tries to keep it a secret that Claire‘s family is living with Massie, but her friends find out in the limo ride on the way to school. Claire already knows she’s not “good enough” for Massie’s Clique because Claire’s family isn’t rich. One night, while Massie’s out walking her dog, Claire sneaks into Massie’s room and starts IMing her friends and tells them that to include Claire in their group. But when Massie finds out, Claire is excluded from the “Pretty Committee.”
