Tomas Ward is an average kid but he sees and hears things others can't. He is the seventh son of the seventh son. It is his destiny to become the Spook. The Spook is a person that goes from county to county protecting the people from witches, boggarts, and drives ghosts away. Tom will learn how to bind boggarts and to deal with witches. Tom is the last hope. Twenty-nine have tried some fled and some failed to stay alive. He disobeys one of the Spooks number one rule and finds himself in big trouble while the spook is gone. He makes friends with a witch named Alice. Alice tricks Tom into freeing Mother Malkin for Bony Lizze. Mother Malkin is one of the most dangerous witch in the county. Tom has killed Mother Malkin once but can he do it again. Will tom end up like the last apprentice or will he succeed and complete his training? Will the Spook be able to save him every time?
