Summary:In 1930 two friends decided to go on a canoeing trip from Minneapolis to Hudson Bay. They were Eric Sevareid and Walter C. Port. They started their journey in an 18 foot canoe with no radio,motor,good maps or directions. They started on the Mississippi River and went south to the Minnesota River and headed north to the Red River of the North. From there they went into Canada and through Lake Winnipeg and headed through more rivers and finally came to York Factory on Hudson Bay. It took them four months to travel the 2,250 miles from Minneapolis to Hudson Bay. On their way they ran into wild animals many storms strong rapids and hard portages. When they were in Northern Canada they saw few white men and a lot of Cree Indians who helped them on their journey.
